Detection of Helicobacter pylori in breath

Before taking the test, it is important that you read and fully understand the instructions. If you have any questions, please contact us.

30 days before (1 month) taking the test, it is important that:

  • You have not undergone a gastroscopy or colonoscopy
  • You have not received antibiotic therapy
  • You are not taking acid antisecretory medication, such as omeprazole (*if taken occasionally, wait 15 days)

Immediately before and during the test:

  • Do not brush your teeth
  • Do not smoke
  • Do not perform any physical effort
  • Do not eat or chew gum

The test must be performed while fasting, both from liquids and solids, for at least 8 hours.

The test lasts approximately twenty minutes. During this time, you must remain at rest in the laboratory waiting room.

A baseline breath sample will be collected. You will then be given a tablet, which must be swallowed whole, without crushing or chewing, with 100 ml of water. After 20 minutes, another breath sample will be collected.
